O sal possibilita reduzir em média, 30% das doses de levodopa, necessários para o controle da sintomatologia, assim sendo, colabora para que não apareça ("long-term levodopa syndrome"). Indicações do Niar Está indicado para o tratamento da doença de parkinson idoipática em combinação com l-dopa ou l-dopa e carbidopa.
